For the Meatballs:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for a few minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
-
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, working in batches if necessary.
- Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
For the Lingonberry Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine lingonberry preserves or sauce, water, and sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
-
Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
To Serve:
-
Arrange the Swedish Meatballs on a serving platter.
- Drizzle the lingonberry sauce over the meatballs or serve it on the side.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve the Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberry Sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or with lingonberry jam on the side.
